Our Cooper Landing Guide Shop and Fly Shop is where we meet guests for fishing trips in Cooper Landing, AK on the Upper Kenai River. Our shop is located on the Sterling Highway next to Wildmans Store. We have ample parking for our guests and a great shop with gifts and fishing supplies.
COOPER LANDING VIEWPOINT AND BOAT LAUNCH
The Cooper Landing Viewpoint and Boat Launch at the Sterling Highway Bridge is of our most popular starting locations for many of our fishing trips on the Upper Kenai River. The Cooper Landing Bridge Boat Launch sits just off the Sterling Highway off of King Salmon Drive.
This boat launch marks the very beginning of the Kenai River as it winds over 80 miles to Cook Inlet in the Pacific Ocean.
Sportsman’s Landing and Russian River FErry
The most popular boat launch on the Kenai River is Sportsman’s Landing. Sportsman’s is also home to the Russian River Ferry which will transport anglers across the Kenai River to the south side of the river where they will have access to shore fishing as well as the Russian River.
Sportsman’s Landing is located just off the Sterling Highway and is at the very start of the Kenai River National Wildlife Refuge that eventually takes anglers through the Kenai River Canyon. There are parking fees and boat launch fees at Sportsman’s Landing that will need to be paid at the booth at the main entrance.
LOWER SKILAK LAKE CAMPGROUND AND BOAT LAUNCH
One of the most stunning views of Skilak Lake can be found at the Lower Skilak Lake Boat Ramp and Campground. Located just off of Skilak Lake Road, this boat launch gives anglers access to the Middle Kenai River, home to the Kenai River National Wildlife Refuge. There are no fees for launching or parking at this boat launch.
Just a short boat ride across the south end of Skilak Lake is where the Middle Kenai River begins and big game fishing is epic!
BING'S LANDING
River access for power boats (launching) and drift boats (takeout) for the Middle Kenai River just above Naptown Rapids can be found at Bing’s Landing. Bing’s Landing is the most popular boat launch for the Middle Kenai River. Located in Sterling, AK, Bing’s is a popular meeting location for Cooper Landing Fishing Guide. There is a small fee for parking private vehicles as well as boat launch fees.
DOT'S FISH CAMP
Dot’s Kenai River Fish Camp is a private boat launch located on the Middle Kenai River in an area known as the “Kenai Keys.” This is a great launch for quick access for launching or taking a boat out on the Middle Kenai River. This is a quiet ramp location with easy, care-free access to the river for our guests. This private ramp does have a fee for launching as well as parking.
One of the most underrated rivers on the Kenai Peninsula is the Kasilof River. The Kasilof River Boat Launch is located just off Spetz Drive in Kasilof, Alaska and provides ample parking for guests and a boat launch to access the lower Kasilof River or for a takeout coming off of the upper Kasilof River.

Buying a State of Alaska fishing license online is simple and fast! Any time you head to the water to fish in Alaska, you will need a valid and signed sport fishing license. Whether or not you are fishing in freshwater or saltwater, a fishing license is required.
Alaska residents ages 18 and older and non-residents ages 16 and older must have a valid Alaska Department of Fish and Game fishing license when participating in sport and personal use fishing. King Salmon Stamps are also required when targeting King Salmon in Alaska (an angler does not need a King Salmon Stamp when not targeting King Salmon and when King Salmon season is closed).
For guided sport fishing (in freshwater or saltwater), every angler must have a valid and signed ADF&G sport fishing license. Sport fishing guides are required to ensure their clients possess a valid sport fishing license issued by the State of Alaska. It is important that a clients’ license is physically present, with the appropriate king salmon stamp (if targeting king salmon). Sport Fishing Guides will record license numbers in their log books and track the various species that are caught and released and/or retained.
For residents under 18 and non-residents under 16 years old, in areas where game species have an annual limit (most King Salmon Fisheries), a Sport Fishing Harvest Record Card which is available at most license retailers or you can print one online is required. When harvesting game species that have an annual limit, the harvest must immediately be recorded. The angler does not need to turn in a Sport Fishing Harvest Record Card; however, the card must be carried while fishing and must be retained until the end of the fishing season.
When taking a freshwater guided fishing trip or a saltwater fishing charter with a licensed guide, you will be prompted to furnish your fishing license to your guide for recording of license number and to verify that your license is current and valid. Any sport fishing guide that does not record your license can be subject to fines and other penalties.
